Stop Waiting and Start Creating

In the pre-internet world, there were large institutions that ran each major area of society. If you wanted to be very successful, you had to get the gatekeepers in these institutions to choose you. You earned the right to create by first earning the respect of these powerful people, usually by having special knowledge or special connections. Today, though, you can post anything you want for the world to see and the sequence has been flipped.

If you want influence, create something great: ideas, art, tools, tech, organizations, and/or experiences. Your creations will open the door for you make great relationships.

Stop waiting for someone to pick you. You don't need to be "discovered." You need to practice your craft and launch cool things into the world and people will discover you through your creations.
