Let’s be uncomfortable

Learning requires getting out of your comfort zone.  You already know everything in your comfort zone. And the further outside your comfort zone you get, the faster your rate of learning--unless you cross the line into the panic zone.

He or she who is willing to be the most uncomfortable is not only the bravest, but rises the fastest.
— Brene Brown

You can't learn when you're freaking out. It's a neurological thing, not psychological. For example, lifeguards are trained to approach someone who is drowning from behind because they can't be reasoned with in that mode, and they will grab the lifeguard and drown both of them.

So, the key to growth is a willingness to be uncomfortable.

Key: Uncomfortable doesn't always equal unpleasant. Think of when you were learning to drive a car. It was not comfortable, but it wasn't awful either.

What experience stretched you recently? How did you learn and grow from it?
